The Best of the Crimea

Duration: 7.5 hours
Walking: moderate

Start with a short drive to Alexander Nevsky Cathedral - Yalta’s central Russian Orthodox place of worship. The cathedral is known for the mosaic of the ancient Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky, a Russian saint. See the interiors of the cathedral.

Continue to Anton Chekhov’s Memorial House, where the great Russian author wrote his famous short story, “The Lady with a Lap Dog”, and the classic plays, “The Cherry Orchard” and “The Three Sisters”.

Then you will be taken to Livadia Palace, the summer residence of the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas II and the venue of the Yalta Conference in 1945. Enjoy the delights of the Crimean cuisine and live classic music performance at the Swallow’s Nest Castle, the folly castle of romantic love, which perches over the sea on a 38 meter high rock.

After lunch the coach takes you to half Gothic-half Moorish Alupka Palace, once the home of 19th century Russia’s wealthiest person Mikhail Vorontsov. Enjoy the authentic interiors of the palace, marvel at finely carved marble sculptures of the winter garden, and see the numerous paintings (including Hogarth, Hubert, Shchedrin)
