From the pier your air-conditioned motor-coach will take you to Primorsky Boulevard, with its 19th century buildings, shady promenade, park tumbling towards the sea and the sweep of the Potemkin Staircase. Built in 1837, Potemkin Staircase is the best place to view the busy harbor.

The famous monument to Duke de Richelieu wearing a Roman Toga overlooks the steps of 142m length. Proceed to the Archaeological Museum, which collection includes artifacts of different cultures, including ancient Greek, Scythian, and early Slavic peoples. Continue past the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre, designed by Viennese architects Felner and Gelmer in the Hapsburg Baroque style with a number of Italian Renaissance features.

Admire the impressive interiors of Preobrazhensky Cathedral, the biggest Church of Odessa. Proceed to Deribasovskaya Street and City Garden. Having worked up an appetite with your sightseeing and shopping, pause for a traditional Ukrainian lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to the Palace of Count Pototsky, now housing the Odessa Fine Arts Museum, a maze of over 15 rooms on 2 floors containing art treasures, ranging from 15th century icons to works by Levitsky, Ayvazovsky and Repin.
