Odessa City Walk

First your motor coach takes you to Prymorsky Boulevard. Take pictures of the new Monument to Catherine the Great. Walk to a statue of the Duc de Richelieu, one of Odessa’s founders. The bronze statue was first erected in 1828 by the St. Petersburg sculptor I. Martos and architect A. Melnikov. The Statue is located just before the Potemkin Staircase, one of the most famous attractions in Odessa. Built in 1837, Potemkin Staircase is the best place to view the busy harbors and the bay. The famous monument to Duke de Richelieu overlooks steps of 142 m length.

Learn about the foundation of Odessa and the history of Potemkin Staircase. Then walk along the Prymorsky Boulevard. Continue for a photo stop to Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre, designed in the 1880s by Viennese architects Felner and Gelmer. From the theatre take a walk to Deribasovskaya Street - the heart of Odessa. After refreshment in a local restaurant walk by St Peter Church and Novikov Palace to Gogol Street and Tolstoy Palace, continue across the Mother-in-Law's bridge to the Palace of Mikhail Vorontsov, the 19th century Governor-General of Novorossia Region.
